RBL Bank’s net profit nearly tripled to ₹482 crore in July-September from ₹179 crore a year earlier, in its first full quarter since Dubai’s Emirates NBD took a 60% stake, results released on Monday showed.

Net interest income, the gap between what the bank earns on loans and pays on deposits, rose 37% to ₹2,131 crore. The net interest margin widened to 4.61%. Operating profit jumped 92% to ₹1,396 crore as expenses rose only 3%, bringing the cost-to-income ratio down to 56.5% from 70.7% a year ago.

The quarter demonstrated the strength and resilience of our franchise, with excellent growth across assets and liabilities.

R Subramaniakumar, MD and CEO, RBL Bank, 12 October 2026

On a call with analysts, Mr Subramaniakumar said the bank had “generated large amount of liquidity on our balance sheet between the capital raise and the deposits raised”, and that “normal business trends are improving quarter-on-quarter as unsecured stress normalizes.”

The Emirates NBD effect

Emirates NBD completed its purchase of a 60% stake on 18 June through a preferential issue of about $2.75 billion (roughly ₹26,000 crore), the largest foreign investment in an Indian bank. The bank says it expects loans to grow 22-25% a year and plans to open 30 to 50 branches a quarter, taking the count to about 1,000 in roughly three years. It has 628 branches now.

The bank has applied to the RBI to take over Emirates NBD’s India business and expects to complete it this financial year, subject to approval.

RBL Bank’s shares closed 0.07% lower at ₹417.70 on Monday.
