About LokVox

Last updated:

LokVox (lokvox.com, also written Lok Vox) is an independent Indian news website. We publish news from India and the world: politics, the economy, the states, science and technology, sports, policy and Parliament, in English and Hindi. LokVox is not connected to any other outlet, channel or company with a similar name.

Our name joins two words. Lok is Hindi for people, as in Lok Sabha, and vox is Latin for voice. The red seal on every page carries ल, the first letter of लोक, because we write for the people of India, not for any party or government. We call ourselves “The people’s newsroom”. We follow what governments, Parliament, parties and regulators decide, and explain what it means for the people it affects. We report what can be checked, show our evidence and correct our mistakes in public.

What we publish

  • News: what happened, with the documents and data behind it.
  • Explained: plain answers to the questions behind the news.
  • Fact check: viral claims checked against the record, rated on a four-point scale.
  • Trackers: data pages we keep up to date, such as Bills in Parliament and the economy dashboard. The data behind each one can be downloaded.
  • Opinion: the view of the editorial desk, always labelled and kept apart from our reporting.

Every story appears in English and in Hindi. The Hindi version is adapted for Hindi readers and keeps every fact, figure and quote of the English one.

How we work

Every story is credited to the editorial desk rather than to one person. Each report lists its sources at the end, with links where they exist. We prefer primary records: Acts, gazette notifications, court orders, official data and Parliament’s own papers.

Our editorial standards set out the rules we follow. When we get something wrong we correct it in public, on the story and in our corrections log. We explain how we use AI and who owns and funds us.

Who we are

LokVox is owned and published by Puneet Singh.

Editor: Puneet Singh.
