Prime Minister Narendra Modi is due in Odisha next Sunday, 25 October, to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s new greenfield data centre and training institute in Khordha district, and President Droupadi Murmu will follow with a two-day visit to her home area of Rairangpur from 28 October.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Saturday morning to go over security, logistics and coordination between departments for both visits, according to officials.

The Prime Minister is expected to fly into Bhubaneswar and hold official programmes in Bhubaneswar and Khordha. The RBI facility is a greenfield project, built from scratch, that will house both a data centre and a training institute for the central bank. Officials have not given its cost or exact location, or said what else is on the Prime Minister’s schedule.

The President’s tour

Murmu’s itinerary is still tentative. She is expected to arrive on 28 October at the Dandabose airstrip in Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district and travel to the Maa Kichakeswari temple at Bahalda to offer prayers. She is also expected to visit the Laxmi Mandap at Mahuldiha and her residence in Rairangpur. Details of her programme on 29 October have not been made public.

Neither visit has yet been announced by the Prime Minister’s Office or Rashtrapati Bhavan, which usually publish schedules closer to the date.
