Vice-President Radhakrishnan heads to Andhra Pradesh for health university's 40th anniversary and Tirupati

Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan begins a two-day visit to Andhra Pradesh on Monday, with a university anniversary in Vijayawada and temple visits in the Tirupati region on his programme.

In Vijayawada he is to be chief guest at the 40th anniversary celebrations of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences. The two-day trip runs on 26 and 27 October according to the Vice-President’s Secretariat.

He will also offer prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati and at the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanur.

The trip was announced on Sunday by the Vice-President’s Secretariat, which has not released a detailed timetable or said which engagement falls on which day. No other dignitaries have been named for the Vijayawada function.

Earlier visits

Radhakrishnan, who is also Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, has visited the state before. In November 2025 he spent two days at Puttaparthi as chief guest at the 44th convocation of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning and at the centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. On that trip he also visited the new campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics at Palasamudram and addressed officer trainees.

This time the focus is on health education in Vijayawada and on the temples of Tirupati and Tiruchanur.
