Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrives in India on Wednesday for a three-day visit that will take him from talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to the technology hub of Bengaluru.
Tusk is visiting from 21 to 23 October at Modi’s invitation, the Ministry of External Affairs said. He meets Modi on Thursday, 22 October, when the two leaders will review the Strategic Partnership that their countries agreed during Modi’s visit to Poland in August 2024, and attends an India-Poland Business Forum in the capital. On Friday he travels to Bengaluru to meet companies from the IT and space sectors at a second business forum.
“The visit will provide the opportunity to further strengthen the India-Poland Strategic Partnership,” the ministry said, listing trade and investment, defence, emerging technologies, renewable energy, education, culture and people-to-people ties as areas of discussion. “The visit would serve to deepen the India-EU strategic partnership,” it added.
Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański and a large business delegation are travelling with him.
Poland’s ambassador in New Delhi, Piotr Antoni Świtalski, said space would feature in the talks. “There are companies in Poland interested in very concrete investment projects in India,” he said. Polish space firms and Indian companies have already signed early contracts and cooperation agreements, mainly in artificial intelligence. “Poland is a friendly gateway to Europe,” he said, adding that Indian citizens are now the largest national group receiving residence permits in Poland.
It is Tusk’s second official visit to India as Prime Minister; the first was in 2010. He was also in New Delhi in 2017 for the India-EU summit, as President of the European Council.
