BRS calls Revanth Reddy government 'useless' over power cuts and water shortage as drought fears grow
BRS leader Manne Krishank said the Telangana government ignored early warnings from agricultural scientists and is attacking K Chandrashekar Rao to hide its own failures.

Key points
- BRS leader Manne Krishank said the Chief Minister does not have any kind of vision.
- He blamed the state for massive power cuts and for failing to buy electricity for farming.
- BRS legislators have threatened to protest at Revanth Reddy's residence over Hyderabad's looming drinking water crisis.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi on Sunday accused Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of leaving the state unprepared for power cuts and a deepening water shortage, and of turning on former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to draw attention away from his government’s failures.
BRS leader Manne Krishank, a former corporation chairman, said in Hyderabad that the state had been hit by “massive power cuts” because the government had failed to buy electricity to support farming. He also alleged that Congress ministers had told farmers not to take up cultivation because the government could not supply them water.
Agricultural scientists had warned from April that trouble was coming, Mr Krishank said, but the government drew up no action plan. “This shows that the CM does not have any kind of vision,” he said. “It has absolutely been a useless government.”
He contrasted the present situation with the years under KCR, saying farming carried on even during the Covid-19 pandemic because the former Chief Minister kept a close watch on agriculture.
Mr Reddy has warned that Telangana faces a prolonged drought-like spell linked to El Niño and has announced a framework to counter what he calls misinformation about the crisis.
The pressure on the government is also building in the capital. BRS legislators from Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts have threatened to protest at the Chief Minister’s residence unless the state lifts water from the Kannepalli pump house and acts on Hyderabad’s looming drinking water crisis.
