Facebook lets users tell its algorithm in their own words what they want to see
Meta has brought its AI-powered 'Your Algorithm' tool from Instagram to Facebook, so people can ask for more or less of a topic in Feed and Reels.

Key points
- Meta's 'Your Algorithm' feature is now on Facebook after launching on Instagram.
- Users can describe their preferences in plain words to change Feed and Reels.
- Posts get new 'Interested' and 'Not interested' options in the three-dot menu.
Facebook users can now shape what the app shows them by telling its recommendation system, in their own words, what they would like more or less of.
Meta launched the feature, called “Your Algorithm”, on Facebook on Tuesday. It uses AI to read what people type about the topics they want to see in Feed and Reels, and adjusts recommendations in response, with the changes meant to show up in real time as a user adjusts them. The app may also ask follow-up questions about what a user liked or disliked, to sharpen the picture.
The tool sits in the three-dot menu on posts, which now also carries “Interested” and “Not interested” options so people can flag whether a particular post fits what they want.
From Instagram first
Meta tried the idea on Instagram before bringing it to Facebook. “Your Algorithm” first appeared for Instagram Reels in December 2025 and was extended to the Instagram Feed and Explore pages in June this year. Threads, Meta’s text-based app, has a similar feature called “Dear Algo”.
The move gives users a direct say over recommendation systems that have mostly worked out people’s interests silently from what they watch, like and scroll past.
No details have been given on whether the feature is reaching all Facebook users at once or in stages, or which countries get it first.
