Two warehouse workers were killed and a third was injured when a speeding vehicle hit them on the Bilaspur-Tauru road in Gurugram on Saturday night. The driver did not stop.

Mohit and Pankaj, both from Jaurasi village in the Tauru area, had just finished their shift at E-Com, a logistics warehouse on Tauru Road, police said. At about 9 pm they were standing by the roadside with their colleague Mukul, also from Jaurasi, chatting, when the vehicle ploughed into them.

Fellow workers and passers-by called the police and rushed the three to a private hospital. Doctors declared Mohit and Pankaj dead. Mukul is still being treated.

Police search for the driver

A police team visited the spot and sent the bodies to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations. They were handed over to the families on Sunday.

Acting on a complaint from Sanjay, a resident of Jaurasi, police registered a case of negligent driving and culpable homicide against the unidentified driver at Bilaspur police station. Investigators are going through footage from CCTV cameras at the site and along the road to identify the vehicle, a senior police officer said.

Police have not said what kind of vehicle was involved, and no arrest had been reported by Sunday night. All three men worked at the same warehouse and came from the same village.
