The 41st monthly instalment of ₹1,500 went out during Navratri from a tribal village in Umaria district, along with LPG refill money and a list of local projects.

- Over ₹65,000 crore has been paid out since the Laadli Behna Yojana began, officials said.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday transferred ₹1,500 each to more than 1.25 crore women under the Laadli Behna Yojana, the state’s monthly cash scheme for women, pressing the button at a gathering in Guruwahi village in the Manpur Janpad Panchayat area of Umaria district.
It was the scheme’s 41st monthly instalment. Officials put the day’s transfer at more than ₹1,834 crore and said more than ₹65,000 crore has reached women since the scheme was launched. Yadav noted that this month’s payment had fallen during Navratri.
Gas refills and a Navratri message
Alongside the monthly payment, ₹115 crore was sent to more than 23 lakh women for LPG cylinder refills under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and the Laadli Behna scheme. Yadav said ₹1,600 crore in refill assistance has been given over the past three years.
He used the event to set his government’s record against that of its predecessors. The Women and Child Development Department’s budget was ₹350 crore under earlier governments, he said, while his government has made a provision of ₹47,000 crore for women’s welfare. He also pointed out that women now serve as District Collectors in a quarter of the state’s districts, and summed up his approach in a slogan: “Sachcha Vaada, Pakka Kaam” (a true promise, solid work).

Why it matters
