Model Shraddha Dubey, the main accused in the case over the death of Lucknow businessman Shiva Sharma, was arrested in Nagpur on Tuesday along with her sister Rashmi Dubey and a driver, Danish.

Lucknow Police and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) carried out the arrests with help from Nagpur Police. The three had been absconding since a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the murder provision, was registered at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow on 9 October on a written complaint by Ranjana Sharma. A reward of ₹50,000 each had been announced for information leading to their arrest.

Officials of the STF and Nagpur Police jointly questioned Dubey at Bell Road police station on Wardha Road in Nagpur. The three were being taken through legal formalities before being brought to Lucknow, where police said the aim was further investigation into Sharma’s death.

While she was on the run, Dubey released a video asking people not to link her name with influential people. An audio recording, said to be of her threatening Sharma and referring to complaining about him to a “sir”, has also been circulating; police have not confirmed it.

Media reports had placed Dubey at a hotel in Agra for nearly a day before her arrest, which police have not confirmed either.
