Spurs needed a stoppage-time goal from Ben Davies to seal a 3-1 win at home on Monday night, their first Premier League victory at the seventh attempt. Torino thrashed Parma in Serie A.

Key points
- Tottenham beat Coventry 3-1, their first league win of the season.
- James Maddison scored after 14 minutes in his first start after a long injury lay-off.
- Spurs moved up to 16th on six points, level with Coventry.
Tottenham finally have a Premier League win. James Maddison marked his first start after a long injury lay-off with the opening goal, and Ben Davies struck in the sixth minute of stoppage time to seal a 3-1 victory over Coventry City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday night.
Spurs had not won any of their first six league games. Maddison put them ahead after 14 minutes, finishing a move set up by Mohammed Kudus, and Andy Robertson thought he had doubled the lead two minutes later before it was ruled out for offside.
Coventry drew level four minutes after half-time when Jack Rudoni’s shot took a deflection on its way in. Tottenham’s response was quick. Omar Marmoush restored the lead in the 58th minute from Robertson’s pass.
Davies, who had come on for Robertson, settled it deep in stoppage time when a rebound fell to him, with Dominic Solanke credited with the assist. There was another welcome sight for the 60,913 crowd when Dejan Kulusevski came off the bench in the 87th minute for his first appearance after more than a year out.
The win lifts Spurs to 16th on six points, level with Coventry, who drop to 17th. Tottenham face Chelsea next.
Torino too good for Parma
In Serie A, Giovanni Simeone scored twice as Torino beat Parma 3-0. He opened the scoring after four minutes, Che Adams added a second midway through the first half and Simeone made it three after 69 minutes. Torino climbed three places to 10th, and Parma fell into the bottom three.
Monza earned only their second win of the season against Cagliari, who had been unbeaten in four. Eddy Kouadio scored his first professional goal and Gustavo Varela struck twice after the break.
In Spain, ten-man Getafe drew 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano. Álvaro García gave Rayo an early lead, Djene was sent off for a second yellow card before the half-hour and Martín Satriano equalised in the second half. Dani Carvajal made his Getafe debut.
