Key points

  1. India were 120 for 2 after 20 overs at about 3.30 pm IST, having chosen to bat.
  2. Pratika Rawal made 52 off 59 balls and Harmanpreet Kaur 50 off 51, both unbeaten.
  3. Vaishnavi Sharma came into the side in place of the rested Kranti Goud.

India’s women were well placed in the second one-day international against Zimbabwe in Vadodara on Sunday afternoon, with Pratika Rawal and Harmanpreet Kaur both past fifty after the hosts chose to bat at the Kotambi stadium.

At about 3.30 pm IST, India were 120 for 2 after 20 overs. Rawal, who made a hundred in the series opener on Friday, had 52 off 59 balls with four fours and a six. Harmanpreet reached her fifty with the last ball of the 20th over and was unbeaten on 50 off 51 balls, with seven fours.

The two had come together after India lost two wickets early in the innings, and they kept the run rate at about six an over.

Zimbabwe’s bowlers

Michelle Mavunga was the most economical of the visiting bowlers, conceding 30 runs from her seven overs. Loryn Phiri went for 30 in 4.5 overs. Neither had a wicket, and Zimbabwe were still looking to break the partnership at the halfway mark.

Team news and the series

India made one change, with Vaishnavi Sharma coming in for the fast bowler Kranti Goud, who was rested.

India won the first match at the same ground comfortably, chasing 198 in 27.1 overs on the back of Rawal’s hundred. A second win on Sunday would give them the three-match series with a game to spare, after they swept the T20 international series against Zimbabwe 3-0 in Raipur last week.

The third and final ODI is also in Vadodara, on Wednesday, 28 October.
