Indian sport has a full Sunday, and it starts in Paris, where PV Sindhu plays the French Open final against An Se-young.
Sindhu reached her first final at the event by beating Japan’s Hina Akechi 21-10, 20-22, 21-16 on Saturday. It is her second Super 750 final of the season, after her Japan Open title in July. An, the world No. 1 and reigning world champion, is a different proposition: Sindhu has never beaten her, and they have already met three times this year. “Every point matters,” Sindhu said after the semi-final.
Cricket
India’s women play Zimbabwe in the second one-day international at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, near Vadodara, from 2 pm IST. A win would give them the series with a match to spare. They won Friday’s opener by nine wickets, with Pratika Rawal making an unbeaten 100 and Shree Charani taking four for 23.
In New Zealand, India A are in the field at Lincoln on day two of the first unofficial Test, with New Zealand A 22 runs ahead on 135 for three overnight. The senior men’s team, 2-0 up in the T20I series, play the third match in Wellington on Tuesday.
Kabaddi
At the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship in Ahmedabad, India’s women, unbeaten after two games, play Uganda at 6:45 pm IST in what looks like the match that will decide the top of their group. The men, also two from two, play Malaysia later in the evening.
Overnight
