Adityanath says industry refused to come to Lucknow under the SP, as he opens Tech Sangam
The Chief Minister said an investment summit planned in 2015-16 had to be moved to Delhi, and that before 2017 electricity reached people 'based on their faces'.

Key points
- Yogi Adityanath said industry leaders' refusal forced a 2015-16 investment summit to move to Delhi.
- He said that before 2017, "even electricity seemed to reach people based on their faces".
- He claimed Ayodhya used to get only three hours of electricity before his government.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath used a technology conference in Lucknow on Saturday to attack the Samajwadi Party’s record, saying business leaders once would not even come to the state capital.
“In 2015-16, the then government in Uttar Pradesh tried to organise an investment summit,” Adityanath said as he opened the Tech Sangam International Conference. “When industry leaders from across India refused to come to Lucknow, the summit had to be held in Delhi.”
The SP, led by Akhilesh Yadav, governed the state at the time. Adityanath said that before his government took office in 2017, no expert would have taken talk of an international summit in Lucknow seriously.
He reached for a familiar line on power supply. “Before 2017, even electricity seemed to reach people based on their faces,” he said. “Electricity was not available equally to everyone. Today, everyone receives electricity equally.”
He also spoke about Ayodhya. “What was the condition of Ayodhya before 2017? It used to get only three hours of electricity,” he said, crediting his government with better power, roads and infrastructure in the city, and with starting the Deepotsav festival there in 2017. “Today, lakhs of people attend Deepotsav in person, and people across the world watch it.”
“There is also a guarantee of security, and we are providing employment in the state with the same commitment,” he said.
The remarks came on a day when the SP said it had settled its seat-sharing formula for the 2027 Assembly election. The SP had not responded to the Chief Minister by mid-afternoon.
