The first stretch is already done. Six seats went to bypolls on 6 October and were counted on 9 October, and the 12 Rajya Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal due to be filled on 16 October were all decided unopposed on 9 October. The next big test is early 2027, when Manipur, Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are expected to vote together. The President’s term ends in July 2027, and Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat vote at the end of the year.

How to read it

“Held” means voting took place or candidates were declared elected unopposed. “Announced” means the Election Commission has issued a schedule; no 2027 poll has reached this stage yet. “Expected” means the poll is due because a term ends, but no schedule exists; the window shown is what news reports expect. “Term ends” is the date the current House or members’ terms expire; for Rajya Sabha rows it is the retirement date of the outgoing members. Where we could confirm only the month, we show the month.

Sources and gaps

Each row in the data file carries its source and notes. Bypoll results come from PTI, DD News (citing Election Commission figures), South First and The Pioneer, cross-checked with ETV Bharat; the ECI’s results portal could not be opened. Assembly term-end dates are from News24’s report of 7 September; BOOM’s tracker gives Goa’s as about 14 February, which we flag. Exact expiry dates for Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, and Rajya Sabha elections due in 2027, could not be verified and will be added when confirmed.
